How it all started
Founding Story
Martin and Alexander met Andreas Spechtler - CEO of Silicon Castles - at a Design Thinking workshop in 2019. During the workshop they developed this crazy idea: On the A10 in Lungau, 10.000 people are stuck in traffic on a single day during the summer. Why don't we develop an app that allows people in the traffic jam to buy products from the farmers in the area and deliver it by drones directly to the car? The idea inspired the three to start a company to develop eGrocery technologies for the demands of the future. They stayed true to the name of the original idea. VIA = street / BIRDS = birds.

The milestones of our journey
Founding of VIABIRDS
VIABIRDS, a tech company, was officially founded on January 3rd, 2020, by Martin Macheiner, Alexander Planitzer, and Andreas Spechtler, who represented Silicon Castles.
MVP during the pandemic
VIABIRDS launched the "Lungauer Onlinekaufhaus" at the outbreak of the pandemic in the Lungau. The business model was successfully verified throughout the next 9 months.
1. Patent filed
Throughout the summer, Martin spend a considerable amount of his time to pour the flyby station idea into a patentable form. During the fall of 2021 the first patent was eventually filed.
